The Hunt is on for Stroud’s Most Interesting Antiques
Philip and his team will be poised to help locals discover the story behind their heirlooms when they invite the public to bring along their prized possessions to a Valuation Day at The Hill in Stroud, on Sunday 12th June.
“Stroud has a wealth of incredible history” says Philip. “From the Arts and Craft Movement to the industrial revolution, the district has played an important role in some of the most significant periods of England’s past; whether it’s a dusty old clock hidden away in an attic or grandmother’s favourite teaspoon that gets used every day, our history is all around us.”
Tucked away behind Merrywalks, The Hill is just a stone’s throw from the centre of Stroud and parking is easy thanks to the private car park. This stunning manor house with its landscaped gardens and connections to William Morris was built in the 1600’s and offers the perfect setting for the day. Refreshments will be available throughout the event and will include cakes and pastries created by Mike Hill, one of the county’s foremost pastry chefs, So if you have flowers sitting in a Ming vase, cuddle up every night with a Steiff bear, mow your lawn with a Budding or simply have something you have always wondered about, bring it along on the 12th and find out what it’s worth, you never know, this time next year, you could be a millionaire.
Valuations will be available throughout the day from 11:00 – 16:00.
Wotton Auction Rooms hold monthly sales of quality and antique furniture alongside other household effects including paintings, rugs, jewellery, silver and china. Each sale has around 1400 lots which are auctioned over two days with viewing available the day before.
